I gave my bread ration to that poor woman with children. Later I was kidded about that.

The transports left from the station in Hooghalen, but from 2 November 1942 the trains left from the camp itself. The railway in the camp ran parallel to the main road, called the “Boulevard des Misères” by the prisoners.
